I just got back from a trip to New York and I can say that there was nothing better than having a good book to read during a very long flight. I love to read however during plane rides I usually go for the gossip magazines because I try to get tired really easy. So I have to say I was surprised on how easy to read the book is. The book is a story about two kids, Mike and Amy and a wooden chest they find on the house they just moved in. The chest has some red shirts that give them magical powers. And with this story line the book as you read you get more involved with what is happening and it is really hard to put the book down. Now, the best part is that my son is a great reader. He is only 8 but he reads advanced books and he wanted to read it too. The book is so entertaining that my son did not want to put it down until he finished a couple of hours after. You can stay connected with the author here: Bryce Clark on Twitter Now the best part is that I have a giveaway for all of you. You can win not only a copy of the book but a $75.00 Amazon.com gift card. Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post. I received a book for review and all opinions expressed are my own. Disclosure: I received complementary media tickets to visit the park, however all opinions expressed are my own. My son is a Lego fan. We have so many Lego toys that it is hard to keep them organized. As a Lego fan his dream has been going to Legoland. The dream has become a reality and now I want to share with you all the fun. Legoland is the perfect park to visit with small kids. My son who is 8, was able to ride all the rides, which is pretty cool, because in other parks he has height restrictions. The park has different sections that will keep kids (and parents) entertained. We started our journey at The Beginning and from there we visited Miniland, Imagination Zone, Pirate Shores, Land of Adventures, Castle Hill, Explore Village, Fun Town, Duplo Village and Dino Island. The park not only has very cool rides, but also has some very entertaining shows. Make sure to look at the daily schedule so you do not miss anything. As an advice, take a change of clothes. You will get soaked at Pirate Shores. The food is great and full of healthy options. Now I am going to leave you with some pictures that show you how much fun we had. Disclosure: I was invited to the bloggers meet up and was given complementary food and shakes, however all opinions expressed are my own. It has been hot in SoCal, so what a better way to spend Saturday morning that learning about Shakes and enjoying yummy food at Johnny Rockets. I was lucky to be part of the Meet-Up with other fabulous bloggers from the SoCal Lady Bloggers group. I love Johhny Rockets. I had them for the first time a few years ago and I fell in love with their peanut butter shake. When I learned about the event that took place at the first Johnny Rockets (founded in 1986) located in Melrose in Los Angeles I knew we were in for a great time. In a very well organized event, we were able to enjoy some dancing lessons, some food and we learned the "secret" of shakeology. (Well, we heard about it, because when I came back home I made some shakes and they tasted nothing like the ones at Johnny Rockets... sigh....) The main reason for our Meet-Up was celebrating #ShakeMonth and the release of the new fall shake flavor: The Candy Shake with M&Ms. You will be able to try this new yummy flavor starting on September 16th, 2013 Now, even though you have to wait until September 16th to try the new shake flavor, you should visit Johnny Rockets Facebook Page because starting on September 9th you can learn a secret word and if you provide that secret word to your server you can receive a FREE 12oz shake of the original flavors (Vanilla, Strawberry or Chocolate). HUMAN Healthy Vending Machines - no more junk on vending machines (#giveaway of a snack pack)9/2/2013 Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post. I received some products to facilitate this review but all opinions expressed are my own. Just a few months ago, on June 27th, the USDA released the “Smart Snacks in School” guidelines. The guidelines are clear on regards with the National School Lunch Program. The Smart Snacks in School rules all the “competitive foods,” that have that name because they compete with the lunch program. Such foods are all the snacks available at the vending machines and student stores. The new rules set limits on calories, fats, sugar and sodium while encouraging the consumption of dairy, whole grains, protein, fruits and vegetables. Schools must comply by July 1, 2014. HUMAN (Helping Unite Mankind and Nutrition) are the Healthy Vending machines that are changing the vending industry. Now when you get hungry and do not have snacks with you, you are going to be able to find healthy snacks and drinks. No more junk in the vending machines. Can you believe summer is almost over and kids are going back to school? Yeah, it is hard to go back to the routine and prepare healthy lunches again. But I am glad that there are products that make it so easy for busy parents like me. Well and preparing lunches is not my only worry about back to school time. I am a very concerned parent when it comes to my child education. I keep reading on the news all the budget cuts to schools and education and I think something needs to be done. But, I guess changing politics is almost impossible, so I help my school by being a member of the PTA and participating on different fundraisers. That extra money that the school is able to raise help with those extra supplies the classrooms need. Our school is pretty new so we also need help with our sport teams and even benches at the playground area. And from all our research, we have learned those things are expensive, so we need to raise a lot of money. As a parent and as a school PTA member, I keep looking for ways to get some extra cash for our school and I was really pleased to fin two very friendly to use programs and for sure will help us to get some extra money for the new school year.
